Q: Why do I feel
a cold draft at my windows even though my windows are
fairly new?
A:
Glass has a lesser R-Value, causing the air
inside adjacent to the glass to get colder. Since cold air
drops, it appears that your windows are leaking, but
generally they are not. It is inside air movement. A
ceiling fan set on winter mode (clockwise) will help
distribute the air more evenly and help reduce frost
build-up on your windows in the winter.
Q:
What is the best way to convey what my wishes are to a
potential remodelor, even if I am not totally sure myself?
A:
Communicate as best as you can. Talk to the remodelor a lot
about how you function on a daily basis. Describe what you
feel are the shortfalls of your home and then let the
remodelor suggest solutions. Do not hurry this initial
process; it is a key time in making your needs/wants
determined. Bounce ideas back and forth until you feel good
about it. Pictures clipped from magazines or the web can be
a huge help in communicating your wishes, as well.
